Ear Limit

Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 5, 2026

The Ear Limit iOS app processes your Apple Health audio records entirely on your iPhone and does not automatically collect, transmit, sell, or share personal or Health data. The app has no user account, no developer backend server, no advertising SDK, and no analytics tracking.

What the iOS app reads from Apple Health

With your permission, Ear Limit requests read-only access to four Apple Health hearing data types: Headphone Audio Exposure, Environmental Audio Exposure, Headphone Audio Exposure Events, and Environmental Sound Reduction. These records are read locally on your iPhone solely to calculate and display your exposure summaries and history. Ear Limit does not write any data into Apple Health.

What stays on your device

Your settings, manual microphone calibration offset, and lightweight local summary caches stay in local storage on your iPhone (and in your personal iOS device backup if you enable system backups). Ear Limit does not persistently store raw Apple Health databases or save continuous microphone traces to disk.

Live room sound level meter

While you are using the foreground room sound meter tab, Ear Limit uses the iPhone microphone to calculate real-time sound pressure level (and session average/peak in Pro). First selecting the tab requests microphone permission and starts measurement; Stop pauses for the current tab visit (and stays paused across lock/unlock), selecting the tab again after leaving starts a new measurement, and leaving the tab or backgrounding the app suspends capture. Audio buffers are processed in memory on the device and discarded immediately; audio is never recorded, saved to disk, or transmitted.

Exports, sharing, and voluntary support emails

When you generate a daily share card, CSV file, or PDF report, the file is created locally on your iPhone and handed to the standard iOS Share Sheet; it goes only where you choose to save or send it. If you choose to email us for support or beta inquiries, we receive your email address and whatever information you include in your message, and we use it solely to reply to you.

In-app purchases

Ear Limit Pro is a one-time purchase processed directly by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store. We never receive your billing details or payment card information; the app only verifies entitlement status on device through StoreKit.
